Grieving Activism Is Helping Black Communities

In our current political climate, it's crucial to understand the historical aspects that have led us here. 📚

Reflecting on the past, we find instances of Black individuals publicly mourning the loss of their loved ones, often victims of direct white violence. 🕊️

Consider the lynching era, a time when public grief was used as a tool to rally support and seek justice for the departed.

One touching example is the funeral of Emmett Till. His mother, propelled into activism by her son's tragic death, used her grief to tell his story.

This has since become an iconic representation of grieving activism.

In understanding our past, we can better navigate our present and shape our future for the better. 🌏
